NT Cricket has outstanding facilities that cater for all levels of cricket. Thanks to our unique climate, cricket is played somewhere in the NT for twelve months of the year. The Alice Springs season is played during the traditional southern cricket playing months of October through March and the Top End season is played from April through September. Both regions have outstanding facilities capable of hosting first class and international cricket matches.
NT Cricket has recently invested over $3 million in upgrades to the Marrara Cricket Grounds in Marrara, Darwin. The precinct boasts two turf-wicket ovals, new first class player changing/viewing rooms, an undercover hard-wicket training area (four lanes) with adjoining coaching and equipment rooms, two turf wicket training blocks and six outdoor hard wicket training lanes. For visiting professional athletes, the Northern Territory Institute of Sport is only a short walk away. International cricket is typically played at the nearby TIO Stadium where NT Cricket maintains a first class turf-wicket training area and drop-in pitches. There are numerous other excellent turf grounds throughout Darwin which are managed to a very high standard by local cricket clubs and the Darwin City Council.
In Alice Springs, Traeger Park provides an outstanding cricket experience with generous changing amenities, an excellent wicket block, outfield and public viewing areas. Traeger Park has lights for night cricket and plays host to the National Indigenous Cricket Championships, The Imparja Cup each year. This centrally located ground provides incredible views of the iconic desert landscape and ticks all the boxes for Australian domestic and international cricket requirements. Only a short drive away is the magnificent Albrecht Oval. With a 360 degree picket fence, permanent sightscreens and a wicket that batters dream about, Albrecht Oval is a true cricketers venue.
