The 2011-12 National Under 17s Championships have been run and won. NSW have claimed the title and the NT side finished the championships with four wins and three losses. The four wins makes this the most successful Under Age Championships in NT history.
NT had excellent victories over powerhouses such as NSW, Victoria, South Australia and ACT. The loss to Tasmania on the first day was the result that had significant impact on the overall ladder placing for NT. The narrow one run loss meant that NT finished 5th, where a win would have seen NT finish 3rd.
There was a number of significant individual performance for the NT. Captain, Thomas Andrews had an outstanding championships after finishing 6th in the runs scorers with runs 289 at an average of 36.1 and equal 1st in the wicket takers with 17 wickets at 16.35.
Joel Logan also capped off an outstanding Championship by finishing equal 3rd in the wicket takers with 15 wickets at 22.07. Jake Weatherald also deserves special mention for finishing 3rd in the batting, scoring 336 at 67.2.
The truest reflection of the sides performance was the announcement of the Team of the Championships. Thomas, Jake and Joel were all named in the side, giving the NT an unprecedented three positions in the side. The balance of the Team of the Championships was made up of NSW (4), Queensland (4) and South Australia (1).
