The NT’s Men’s Imparja team performed competitively throughout the week-long Imparja Cup contest, showing potential against a very high calibre of opponents from the other states.

They scored a win against ACT at Albrecht Oval on Day 3 of the competition, achieving 7/149 against ACT’s 99 in a dominant display in the battle of the Territories.

Highlights from the match include an outstanding performance from Adrian McAdam with 54 runs off 40 balls and Joel Liddle with 33 not out off 23 balls.

Dylan Fuller took 3 wickets for 8 runs off 4 overs, while Dylan Measures claimed 3 wickets for 23 runs off 4 overs.

The men’s team finished 7th overall with Adrian McAdam coming in at 4th best batter in the competition with 254 runs - an average of 36.29. He was also 2nd in the bowling ladder with 13 wickets - an average of 11.85.

The NT Women’s team played strongly throughout the competition. They narrowly missed out on the chance to play in the final against NSW by a margin of 0.01%, after using calculations based on the highest run rate to determine the final two teams.

Notable Community Division performances include last-man-standing centuries from Floyd Doyle (Safe and Sober) and Daniel Turner (Amoonguna Crows) in a see-it-to-believe-it final over victory for the Safe and Sober mob. Brothers in Arms' dependable all-rounder Barry Cooke took 4 wickets in 4 balls to win their semi-final and the Alice Springs Correctional Centre's Takayaki Shioji was devastating in his opening spells.

The 2012 Imparja Cup involved 96 games held over 6 days across 7 venues, with 5 divisions. It is supported by the Australian Government's Learn Earn Legend! program.

Administered by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), Learn Earn Legend! encourages and supports young Indigenous Australians to stay at school, get that job and be a legend for themselves, their family and their community.
