The A Grade one day competition returns this weekend after the T20 competition was run and won in December.

Players will now need to adjust to building an innings with the bat in hand, and patient bowling as two cracking fixtures will kick start the New Year.

Firstly, reigning premiers West will square off against a fast-rising Complete Constructions Cricket Club who are aiming to prove they are among the competition’s elite.

CCCC showed strong form in the T20 competition, narrowly missing a place in the final and the Graeme Schmidt led side will be looking to take an extra step in the longer format.

New recruit Will Andrews is sure to be a danger man with bat in hand for CCCC while the all round talents of Hasnain Zaidi will also prove valuable in the 45 over format.

The men in green and gold will have a tough test first up after the break however as they face a West side desperate to continue their pre-Christmas success.

The Bloods claimed the T20 premiership in December and will aim to make season 2020/21 a clean sweep by adding the one-day crown to their cabinet.

West will likely prove difficult to beat with all-rounder Samindra Madushan leading from the front, while opening bowler Thineth Arachchinge will be a headache for opposition  batsmen with ball in hand.

West and CCCC will square off on Saturday afternoon at Albrecht Oval from 12.30pm.

In the other fixture, both Solergy Alice Tigers and Rovers will look to put disappointing T20 campaigns behind them as they turn their attention to the one day competition.

Tigers have won just two of their six one day fixtures so far this season, while Rovers are yet to register a win with both sides desperate to jump start their campaign with a victory on Saturday.

For Tigers, opening bowler Murukan Pandian will aim to be at his miserly best while the big hitting of Sukhmanpreet Dhillon will likely be on show.

Rovers meanwhile will likely rely on captain Harry Lambley to produce form with both bat and ball while Alice Springs Cricket veteran Greg Louis will provide some experience to a young outfit.

Tigers and Rovers will square off at Jim McConville Oval from 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

In the B Grade competition, West and Federal Asbuild will square off in a repeat of December’s T20 grand final.

Federal will be itching at the opportunity to get a win over West following their defeat in last year’s grand final while West, led by opening batting combination Ryan Thomson and Kieran Curnow, will prove a stern test.

That match will be played at Flynn Reserve from 12.30pm.

In the other B Grade fixture, Solergy Alice Tigers will meet Complete Construction Cricket Club at Rhonda Diano Oval from 12.30pm.
