Alice Springs Cricket Association continues its One Day Competition this weekend with more day/night fixtures scheduled. Teams will be hoping to see the lights in action as part of these fixtures with both of last weekends matches ending very early with two low scoring affairs.
West will look to continue their winning ways after last weekend defeating Federal Asbuild when they take on Complete Construction Works at Albrecht Oval. West will be without five of their regular players this will week, leaving an opportunity for the ever improving Works to snatch victory. Works have been on the improve since the return of play after the Christmas break with a solid group of players turning out each week and performing for the side. Menuke Jasin has been solid for Works in the middle order averaging 47 since the Christmas break and will look to hold down that spot this weekend while Hasnain Zaidi and Praful Gautam have been potent with the new ball including 5/20 to Gautam last weekend. West have solid stocks in the lower grades and will be competitive none the less as they look to try and keep in touch with ladder leaders Federal Asbuild.
In the other A Grade game, Solergy Alice Tigers will look to get back on the winners list against Rovers who are yet to record a win for the season. Rovers have tried their best all season, continually putting young players out on the park, which will hopefully put them in a good position in years to come. This being said, they are looking for that first win and it could come against an inconsistent Tigers outfit. The Tigers’ haven’t been able to consistently play out their games with big variances in their good and not so good performances. Rovers will be hoping that they can bring their best performance of the year and upset the Tigers at Traeger Park.
Both A Grade matches start at 3pm Saturday and can be found live streamed on NT Cricket’s YouTube channel.
Women’s cricket this week see’s the annual pink stumps day fundraiser with a T20 exhibition match. There will also be a Junior Girls match from 4pm at Flynn Drive on Thursday.
In the B Grade, West will be looking to get another win on the board after defeating Federal Asbuild last weekend but will be looking to their depth with A Grade short on numbers as they come up against a solid Complete Construction Works side at Head Street on Saturday.
In the other B Grade fixture, the Tigers taking on Rovers at Flynn Drive. Rovers have showed some glimpses of excellence in the B Grade and with some very experienced cricketers in the side they could topple the Tigers.
C Grade fixtures this week see West take on Works at Paul Fitzsimons Oval and the Alice Tigers take on Rovers at Ross Park while the Sunday Fixture this week is the Federal derby with their two C Grade sides doing battle at Paul Fitzsimons Oval.
