Batsmen in the Alice Springs Cricket Association A Grade competition have had tonnes of fun to open the 2020/21 season.
In just two rounds of the A Grade One Day Competition, five hundreds have already been registered in a blistering start to the new season.
In round two, Federal Asbuild’s Dan Donaldson and Complete Construction Cricket Club’s Will Andrews both registered their first centuries in the Alice Springs competition.
The duo joined Tiger’s Sukhman Dhillon and West’s Jacob Dick and Samindra Madushan as centurions, and will be looking to replicate that form this weekend.
Donaldson will lead his side into battle against reigning premiers West in what is sure to be the highlight of round three.
The two sides have been the standouts in recent years across Alice Springs cricket, developing an exciting rivalry that often produces close matches.
While Donaldson will be the key wicket for Federal, West will look to Madushan to perform with both bat and ball. Madushan and Donaldson have proved to be two of the competition’s standout all-rounders in the past two seasons, and their battle will go a long way to deciding the outcome of the fixture.
That match will be played on Saturday from 9:00am at Albrecht Oval. In the second A Grade fixture of the week, Complete Constructions will aim to follow up their dominant round two performance when they face Solergy Alice Tigers.
Complete Constructions weren’t troubled in their opening match of the year, claiming a 132-run victory over Rovers.
They will face a more difficult task this week against a hard-hitting Tigers batting order that will be looking for their first win of the new season. That match will be played on Saturday at 12.30pm at Albrecht Oval. Both Matches will be played as T20’s for One Day points.
In the Women’s Competition, Federal Asbuild will aim to cement themselves at the top of the table when they meet Complete Constructions Cricket Club.
Federal has opened the season in dominant fashion, registering two wins from two attempts to sit pretty at the top of the ladder.
Complete Constructions meanwhile opened their account with a win in round one and will hope to keep touch with their rivals with a second victory on Thursday night. That fixture will take place at Flynn Reserve from 8pm.
In the other fixture, Solergy Alice Tigers will be looking for their first win of the season when they take on West at 6pm.
Tigers pushed a strong Federal outfit in round two, going down by just 15 runs and will head into their round three fixture full of confidence.
In B Grade, Federal will look to continue their dominant start to the 2020/21 season when they take on West at Flynn Reserve on Saturday.
Complete Constructions Cricket Club meanwhile will look to pick up from their good form last week when they take on Solergy Alice Tigers.
In the C Grade T20 Competition, West will meet Rovers at Paul Fitzsimons Oval on Saturday from 12pm before Rovers and Federal Asbuild Red square off at Ross Park at 1pm. To finish round three, Complete Constructions Cricket Club will meet Solergy Alice Tigers at Paul Fitzsimons Oval from 3pm.
