The cricket 365 competition has already showcased some top-quality cricket and this Sunday looks to be no different when the four teams take the field for round two.

With players looking to earn contracts, regain them or get some extra match practice while on Big Bash or state contracts, the players involved in the competition are certainly giving it a red hot crack during their stay in Darwin.

Last week, it began with Southern Districts’ pair, Dean Fry (53) and Jackson Isakka (81*) getting their teams over the line with some brilliant batting.

This week, opportunities open up again, beginning with round one winners, Southern Storm and Desert Blaze, facing off in a One-Day game at Cazaly’s Arena, starting at 10:30am on Sunday.

Round 2: Southern Storm vs. Desert Blaze

10:30am at Cazaly’s Arena

The Blaze are bolstered with the experience of Australian capped ODI fast bowler Chris Tremain and 2020/21 domestic One-Day player of the year Tom Andrews in the side.

Dylan Brasher and Isakka will look to continue their run-scoring after both hit half-centuries last week.

The Blaze will also have Western Australian off-spinner, Corey Rocchiccioli added to its eleven this week after he arrives in Darwin tomorrow.

Blaze captain Andrews is certain to have plenty of spin bowling options and a quick over rate on Sunday with five spinners (including himself) to choose from.

On the other hand, the Storm will receive a boost with Western Australian left-hand batsmen, Sam Fanning and Tracy Village all-rounder Kyle Scrimegour joining the team. Both cricketers have previously represented Australia at under 19 level.

State cricketers Arjun Nair (1/24 off nine overs) and Mac Wright (34) will be looking to build on their solid starts last week.

The Storm will have an upper hand knowing the ground conditions after playing at Cazaly’s Arena last week, although the experience of the Blaze will give them every chance in this match.

Round 2: Northern Tide vs. City Cyclones

1:30pm at DXC Arena

The Northern Tide will have their first experience playing a day-night match in this tournament when they take on the City Cyclones at DXC Arena on Sunday.

After going down in the second last over against the Storm last week, the Tide will be eager to bounce back with a win.

Tide captain Isaac Conway will be looking to add to his unbeaten 77, opening the batting last week while left-arm wrist spinner, Callum Stow from Geelong, Victoria, will come in for his first game of the tournament.

The City Cyclones will be hoping for more batters to join Dylan Hunter and Zac Sleeman in the runs after both scored half-centuries last week in the team’s total of 10/166.

The addition of Northern Territory batsmen, Jacob Dickman, will bring some local experience to the Cyclones batting line-up.

After some dropped catches in the field last week, the Cyclones will need to hold onto their chances, particularly against the likes of New South Wales batters, Jason Sanga and Ryan Hackney in the Tide batting line-up.

With the Cyclones having just played a day-night match at DXC Arena, they will have a good understanding of the conditions, setting this match up to be a close one.

The matches will be live-streamed via FrogBox and can be viewed on the MyCricket Facebook page or NT Cricket YouTube page.
