A season’s worth of hard work and dedication from players across all grades will come to a head with the Yeperenye Women’s Competition grand final beginning proceedings on Thursday night.
Federal and West dominate the slate across senior grand finals, beginning with the women’s competition at Flynn Reserve.
The two standout sides across the season, both Federal and West will be confident of taking home the trophy at the end of the night.
Federal earned their way into the grand final following a convincing win over Solergy Alice Tigers last week, led by their formidable opening batting partnership of Marlie Dawes and Marii Kaukura.
Both will hope to fire again in the decider, with West captain Bronte Stray the key to victory for the Bloods.
That game will kick off grand final week on Thursday night from 7pm.
Federal and West will also meet in the A Grade decider, continuing a common trend from the previous three seasons.
The two sides have been the dominant force in cricket across the past three years, with West claiming the past two titles and Federal earning one previous.
Both sides will be extremely confident of a positive result with Federal boasting an imposing batting and bowling lineup.
Michael Klein-Boonschate will be a major factor with ball in hand, having torn through opposing batting lineups in season 2020/21 with his trademark aggression.
West opening bowler Thineth Arachchinge will hope to be the Bloods’ answer, quickly asserting himself as one of the most difficult bowlers to score off across Alice Springs.
Federal head into the game having not taken to the park in three weeks, hoping a lack of match practice will not play a factor while West convincingly took down Complete Constructions in last week’s semi-final.
The A Grade grand final will take place on Saturday afternoon in a day/night fixture, beginning at 3pm at Albrecht Oval.
The third senior final to feature West and Federal squaring off is the B Grade decider, to be played at Jim McConville Oval on Saturday afternoon.
In a replay of this season’s T20 final, Federal will hope to get revenge after losing that fixture to West.
Federal will be confident heading into the one day final however, having finished atop the one-day standings by a comfortable margin.
Craig Prettejohn will be the man at the heart a potential Federal triumph, setting the tone at the top of the order for his side.
West will need to keep the man they call ‘Buckets’ quiet if they hope to take the trophy home, but certainly have the firepower with ball in hand to do so.
Skipper Marcus Becker will be influential with ball in hand, along with all rounder Leith Hiscox.
The B Grade final will begin at 12.30pm.
In the C Grade decider, Federal Asbuild White will take on Complete Constructions at 1pm on Saturday.
Federal White have already claimed the T20 crown in season 2020/21 and will hope to make it a double dose of titles, while Complete Constructions will be flying the flag for the whole club on grand final week.
