Rain has delayed the commencement of the 27th Imparja Cup in Alice Springs. After a successful Indoor Imparja Cup Competition held on Friday evening, players were eager to commence play from 8am Saturday morning at multiple fields around Alice Springs. Heavy rainfall resulted in the pitches to be deemed unsafe to play, with the annual cup now due to commence Sunday.

The exhibition match between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek will go ahead at Treagar Park from 7pm, weather permitting, recreating the first ever Imparja Match game played between the two communities in 1994.

Prior to this match, teams in Alice Springs taking part in the National Indigenous Cricket Championships, Imparja Cup teams, families and friends will have the opportunity to join a bare foot circle inline with the inaugural Reconciliation Round being celebrated by community cricket clubs around the nation.
