After hearing about opportunities to develop his cricket in Darwin, he travelled from Brisbane during the 2017 'off season' to hone his skills in the Territory.

At a time of year when many southern players are taking a break, Nathan enjoyed success, playing 11 A-grade games with Pint Cricket club in the Darwin and Districts Cricket Competition, including a top score of 111 and 3 more scores over 50.  In Darwin, he gained valuable game time during the southern winter and also enjoyed international exposure which advanced his skills. As well as Club cricket opportunities, Nathan  also starred for "Southern Storm", one of four franchises in the inaugural Strike League, in which he made a stunning 135 batting at number 4.  To cap off his time in the Territory, Nathan was selected to play in the NT Invitational Team which met Bangladesh in a five game series in the Top End.

McSweeney praises his time in the NT

Returning to Queensland, Nathan had experienced some solid cricket which strengthened his game.  We're proud of his success and hard work in the Under 19 Cricket World Cup and look forward to seeing how his career progresses.  There are plenty of opportunities in the NT for cricketers wanting to develop their game, and NT Cricket is proud to offer outstanding facilities and experiences to develop our players of today and tomorrow.
