The Northern Territory Men’s team will play in Sunday’s minor placing final after inclement weather ruled out any chance of play in Saturday’s clash with South Australia at Albrecht Oval.

Umpires inspected the wicket and infield numerous times before play was finally abandoned at around 2.30pm.

The NT now play Western Australia at Jim McConville Oval in the 6th v 7th playoff.

Northern Territory coach Greg Aldam said the team was looking forward to making amends after losing to the Westerners on Tuesday night.

“The boys have improved a lot over each game throughout the championships and we’re really confident of a strong showing in our placing final tomorrow,” he said.

“It’d be a great way to finish off the week with a win.”

That match will be played at 12.00pm on Sunday, although heavy rain is forecast again early in the morning.

Match Scores: South Australia v Northern Territory. Match abandoned.
