Code of Conduct

NT Cricket: Code of Conduct

Preamble

Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it is played not only within its Laws but also within the spirit of the game. Any action seen as abusing this spirit causes injury to the game itself.

Embracing the spirit of the game means participating fairly and exhibiting respect for other players, officials, and the game’s traditional values, such as graciousness in defeat and humility in victory.

Cricket holds a distinct place in Australian society and history, playing a significant role in national identity. This status brings particular responsibilities for players and officials to conform to high standards of fair play and personal behaviour both on and off the field.

This Code of Behaviour is intended to protect and enshrine such qualities and standards to ensure the ongoing enjoyment of cricket.

Scope

All persons connected to NT Cricket, including players, coaches, parents, and umpires, must comply with this Code of Behaviour. The following standards of conduct must be met when participating in any in-person or online activity sanctioned by NT Cricket.

Rules for Behaviour

Each rule for behaviour is accompanied by guidelines. The guidelines serve as an illustrative guide only. In case of any doubt regarding interpretation, the Rule itself shall take precedence. The guidelines are not exhaustive in listing offences or prohibited conduct.
