Complete Construction Cricket Club’s Will Andrews' efforts during the 2022/23 Alice Springs Cricket season did not go unnoticed with Andrews awarded the Jarrod Wapper medal at the annual Alice Springs Cricket Association Presentation night held on Sunday 19 March at the Gillen Club.
Andrews' consistent performance throughout the season and his dominate 138(87) in the final round secured him the maximum votes to secure the 2022/23 Wapper Medal, 2 points clear of last season’s winner Samindra Madushan.
2021/22 Wapper Medalist, and second in this season count, Samindra Madushan took home the A Grade batting average and aggregate awards and the bowling aggregate awards taking 22 wickets and making 446 runs at 44.6 which also saw him named the ASCA Senior Cricketer of the Year.
Anthony Geppa was awarded the A Grade bowling average award taking 20 wickets at an average of 8.7 to finish the season.
Skylah Henwood was awarded the Braszell medal, along with the women’s bowling aggregate award with Brooke Wilson claiming the Nanet Pagsanjan Women’s Rookie of the Year award and Sandy Warner taking 9 wickets at 7.56 to claim the Women’s bowling average award.
Bronte Stray was awarded the Jenny Kroker Women’s Cricketer of the Year award and women’s batting aggregate award making 283 runs this season, while Caitlin Couch was again a force to be reckoned with at the crease this season, awarded the Women’s batting average awards after making 194 runs with an average of 194.
Daniel Pratt proved too good with the bat this season claiming the B Grade batting average and aggregate award making 529 at an average of 52.9.
Michael Leerson claimed the B Grade bowling average and aggregate award taking 28 wickets at an average of 10.7.
Ibtihaj Haqani (326 runs @ 65.2) and Bradley Gill (385 runs) took home the C Grade batting average and aggregate awards respectively while Roshan Ekanayaka dominated the bowling claiming both bowling average and jointly winning the bowling aggregate with 21 wickets at 10.14 with Chris Rudd and Matthew Bland also taking 21 wickets.
Shivam Singh was awarded the Under 16s Champion player and not surprisingly also took home the Under 16s batting average and aggregate awards making 299 runs at 99.67. Singh also took home the ASCA Boy’s Junior Cricketer or the Year award.
Harshita Singh received the Under 16s bowling average award and was named ASCA Girl’s Junior Cricketer of the Year, while Samuel Cheetham took home the bowling aggregate award.
Aaron McVeigh was awarded the Under 13’s Champion player, also taking home the Under 13’s batting aggregate award with 195 runs for the season. Sonny McClean claimed the Under 13’s bowling aggregate award.
The 2022/23 ASCA Volunteer of the Year award went to Daniel Molloy with the West Women’s Cricket Team claiming Women’s Volunteer of the Year award and Complete Constructions Cricket Club and Federal Cricket Club both taking home the Spirit of Cricket Award.
Complete Construction Cricket Club took out the 2022/23 Champion Club honours.
