Kookaburra Signs On as NT Cricket Official Partner

NT Cricket is proud to welcome Kookaburra as an Official Partner in a multi-year agreement that strengthens cricket across the Northern Territory.

Established in Melbourne in 1890 by AG Thompson, Kookaburra is 100% Australian owned and operated and is led to this day by fourth and fifth generation Thompson family members.

The partnership supports boys and girls, as well as men and women, participating in cricket at all levels. As part of the agreement, Kookaburra will also become naming-rights sponsor of two key junior and representative programs, the Kookaburra Junior Strike League and the Kookaburra Inter-State Challenge.

The Kookaburra Junior Strike League is NT Cricket’s leading junior program for male and female pathway players, providing a platform for skill development, team performance and talent identification in preparation for Cricket Australia's Underage National Cricket Championships. The Kookaburra Inter-State Challenge brings together emerging boys’ and girls’ teams from the NT, SA and NSW in a multi-day competition held annually in Darwin.

NT Cricket will also exclusively use Kookaburra cricket balls for flagship events, including:

  • Cricket 365 (Top End T20 Series)

  • Kookaburra Junior Strike League

  • Kookaburra Inter-State Challenge

  • Imparja Cup

NT Cricket CEO Gavin Dovey said he was thrilled to partner with a brand synonymous with cricket in Australia.

“We’re entering an incredible phase of growth here in the Northern Territory, both at the grassroots community level all the way up to the return of international cricket for the first time in 17 years.

“There is no doubt when people think Kookaburra in Australia, they think cricket, so this is an exciting new partnership for us that reflects a new era.”

Kookaburra General Manager – GTM David Orchard said the partnership reflects the brand’s commitment to cricket development from the ground up.

"Kookaburra Sport is proud to partner with NT Cricket in fostering the growth of the game across the Territory. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting grassroots development, nurturing local talent, and building strong cricketing communities for the future."
