Northern Territory Cricket will celebrate Play Cricket Week from 8–12 September 2025, with this year’s theme “Cricket Everywhere” showcasing that cricket can be played on fields, backyards, in the classroom, at the beach or anywhere people come together to connect and have fun.
NT Cricket’s community team work remotely across the Territory, delivering a range of school visits, clinics and community activations to hundreds of kids. A highlight has been the surge in participation through Woolworths Cricket Blast, especially the girls-only Colour Blast programs which is linked to funding obtained in the Federal Government’s ‘Play Our Way’ initiative; in 2025, over 213 girls have participated in these girls-only programs including in Tennant Creek, Katherine, Alice Springs, Belyuen, Beswick, Jilkminggan and Borroloola.
Play Cricket Week will also celebrate two major events that recently took place within the NT – the return of the Australian Men’s International T20 team and the annual Top End T20 Series, sponsored by NT Tourism. The internationals created the chance for remote schools and communities to come together on-field during the innings break, playing in front of more than 10,000 fans – while the Top End T20s saw Big Bash Academy players from Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades, Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes deliver clinics, Q&A sessions and inspire the next generation of Territorian cricketers.
