Kookaburra Interstate Challenge Announced for 2025

Northern Territory Cricket is pleased to announce the dates for the 2025 Kookaburra Interstate Challenge, which will see the return of Adelaide’s Scotch College and Sydney University to compete against the NT U17 boys.

Starting on Sunday 28th September, the Kookaburra Interstate Challenge will see all teams participate in a combination of T20 and 50-over matches across the two ovals at DXC Arena. 

Entering its fifth year, the Kookaburra Interstate Challenge remains pivotal to the Territory’s underage cricketing pathway, providing the best young players with valuable match experience in the lead-up to Cricket Australia’s U17 Underage National Championships. Among the standouts from last year’s tournament were Sam Barker (Southern Districts CC) and Cadell McMahon (Palmerston CC), both of whom earned selection for NT Strike during the 2025 Top End Series.

For touring sides Scotch College and Sydney University, the tri-series provides exposure to match simulation in preparation for the commencement of the traditional cricket season down south.

The NT squad will be led by Head Coach Rhys French (PINT CC) and Assistant Coach Harry Martin (Nightcliff CC), who both have played key roles in Territory pathways through the Academy and Junior Strike League.
