NT Cricket is calling for nominations from talented male and female Indigenous players to represent the NT at the 2026 National Indigenous Cricket Championships.
Nominations Open for NT Indigenous Players for the 2026 National Championships
The NICC showcases the country’s top Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cricketers, and creates an opportunity to celebrate the strong connection between cricket and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
The Championships also serve as an important pathway for emerging Indigenous talent to showcase their abilities on a national platform. Past competitors such as D’Arcy Short, Scott Boland, Dan Christian, Ashleigh Gardner and Brendan Doggett have progressed from the NICC to representing Australia at the elite level.
In 2025, NT Cricket returned to the men’s NICC in a rain-affected competition, with Brad Illot named in the ‘team of the tournament’ and Harrison Johnny selected in the third annual Cricket Australia and Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) National Indigenous Cricket Camp held in October.
NT Cricket would again like to encourage all talented male and female indigenous players interested in competing at the 2026 Championships to complete the nomination form below. The Championships will be held interstate in mid-late April, with a final destination/date to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Please note, with the NICC now held April (formerly held in February), NT Cricket will use the 2026 Imparja Cup (20-24 February) as a selection opportunity for those male and female players interested in representing the NT at the NICC.
NT Cricket would also like to invite nominations from those wanting to be involved as Support Staff or act as Team Manager for the NT Indigenous Teams.
