Northern Territory Cricket has announced its squad for the 2026 Cricket Australia U17 National Championships, set to take place in Brisbane, January 5th – 12th 2026.
NT’s Emerging Talent Named for the Cricket Australia U17 Male National Championships
The U17 National Championships is a key tournament in Cricket Australia’s junior pathway, providing an entry point for the country’s most promising young players to showcase their talent.
The NT U17 squad features a mix of returning and new talent, with several players bringing valuable experience from last year’s U17 Championships in Launceston, while others including Harvey McCormick (Waratah), Rithan Ramanan (Waratah) and talented brother’s Angad and Deepanshu Panwar (Southern Districts) have earned selection through their impressive performances in the Kookaburra Junior Strike League and Interstate Challenge.
The side will be led by Junaid Mansoor (Waratah) and Ralph Stephens (Darwin), with the former recently impressing at the U19 National Championships in Perth and throughout the local Darwin Districts Cricket Competition at a first grade level.
Following a decision from Cricket Australia to allow Cricket Tasmania, Cricket ACT and NT Cricket overage compensation, Sam Barker (Southern Districts) and Cadell McMahon (Palmerston) have been included in the squad after both impressed at the recent U19 National Championships in Perth and the 2025 Top End Series.
Rounding out the squad is Nirav Sharma who comes highly recommended and will strengthen both the batting and wrist spin stocks.
Trent Keep – NT Cricket Pathways and Talent Development Coach:
“This U17 group has had great learning opportunities this year throughout the Darwin & Districts Cricket Competition, Kookaburra Junior Strike League and Interstate Challenge, with all three tournaments playing a crucial role in the learning and development for these selected players”.
“The U17 age group is an important part of the NT Cricket pathway, so to have 13 Territorians is a positive sign of the depth we are creating, and now is the time to put together some strong team performances on a national stage”.
