Northern Territory Cricket Ltd is the peak sporting body for cricket in the Northern Territory. As custodians of the sport, we work closely with Cricket Australia, the seven other State and Territory Associations, and our members to serve and grow the game. Our purpose is to unite and inspire our community through cricket, and our vision is to create a thriving sport for all.
Reporting to the Head of Cricket and the First Nations Programs Manager, the First Nations Growth Lead will play a key role in the delivery of strategic initiatives aligned to Cricket Australia’s third Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are integral to the Australian cricket story, past, present and future, and Northern Territory Cricket has an important role to play nationally in ensuring cricket truly is a sport for all Australians.
The First Nations Growth Lead will be responsible for delivering cricket programs in regional and remote communities throughout the Northern Territory, with a focus on increasing Indigenous participation and making cricket fun, welcoming and accessible.
The role will deliver positive cricket experiences that aim to foster a lifelong love of the game, as well as programs that promote positive health, wellbeing and social cohesion across First Nations communities.
Based on Mparntwe or Larrakia Country, with semi-regular travel to regional and remote communities throughout Central Australia and the Top End, this role will create more opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across all aspects of cricket.
The successful candidate will be a passionate and energetic advocate for diversity and inclusion, possess strong cultural awareness and understanding, and demonstrate high levels of teaching, instruction and coaching ability essential to engaging regional and remote communities in sport.
