Northern Territory Cricket has selected its side for the upcoming Cricket Australia Under 16 Female National Championships, to be held in Launceston from January 15 to 22.
This will be the second consecutive year the NT has been represented at the Under 16 Female National Championships, following the Territory’s inaugural campaign in 2025 which saw the side defeat Tasmania on the final day.
Selected in this year’s team are Jordi O’Toole (PINT), Joanna Pickett (TVCC), Ekam Dhillon (TVCC), Naomi McMahon (Palmerston), Abbey Warton (Waratah) and Skylah Henwood (Federals), who all participated in last year’s Championships.
Joanna Pickett and Jordi O’Toole were both named in the DDCC Women’s Team of the Year following standout seasons, with O’Toole finishing as the 1st Grade Women’s leading wicket taker.
Sophie Cameron (Palmerston) and Vishali Bimbral (Palmerston) have also earned selection for the first time after impressing throughout the DDCC season and the Kookaburra Girls Junior Strike League.
Following a review of current NT playing availability and depth, and advice from Cricket Australia, the decision was made to supplement the final squad positions with players from interstate. NT Cricket has worked with State and Territory Talent Managers and is pleased to confirm that Bridget Slattery (SA), Hasanjot Kaur (SA), Ella Gustard (SA), Trisha Bajaj (VIC), Riva Guliya (VIC) and Sophie Terrell (WA) will represent the NT. Trisha Bajaj and Riva Guliya were also members of the NT’s 2025 Under 16 National Championships side.
The team will be coached by NT Cricket’s Pathway and Talent Development Coach Trent Keep, with Hannah Armstrong appointed as assistant coach following her contributions throughout the 2025 Girls Academy.
The NT will compete in a series of 50 over and T20 matches throughout the Championships.
