Pakistan ‘A’ Complete CDU Top End T20 Series

NT Cricket are delighted to announce that the Pakistan Shaheens (Pakistan A) will travel to Darwin to take part in the 2023 CDU Men’s Top End T20 Series, powered by Dafabet.

As the marquee event of NT Cricket’s ‘Cricket 365 Program’, the Top End T20 Series showcases emerging cricket talent and promotes the Northern Territory as a destination of choice to a global audience.

This year’s series has a record 6 teams participating and offers cricket fans an exciting mix of international, national and local teams, all competing under Darwin’s beautiful winter dry season skies.

The Pakistan Shaheens are joined by fellow international team the Papua New Guinea Barras, as well as the returning Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades Academies who travelled north in 2022.

The Australian Capital Territory Comets make their first entry into the tournament, while the locals will be represented by NT Strike.

The Shaheens will commence their campaign with the opening match of the tournament against the NT Strike at Garden's Oval on Sunday 30 July.

The Pakistan Shaheens will be led by 21 year old Rohail Nazir who has played 33 first-class matches.

Gavin Dovey, CEO - NT Cricket:

“In just our second year of hosting the CDU Men’s Top End T20 Series we have secured the participation of an ICC Full Member Association. This is huge.

The inclusion of the Pakistan Shaheens represents a step change for the tournament and signals the enormous potential of ‘Cricket 365’ and the value the Northern Territory has to offer Australian Cricket.

We are incredibly grateful for the vision and support of the Pakistan Cricket Board to make this momentous occasion happen.

The PCB are widely regarded as the best hosts in international cricket, and we look forward to welcoming the Shaheens to the Top End and reciprocating that warmth and hospitality.”

Usman Wahla, PCB Director – International Cricket:

“We are thankful to the organisers for extending this invitation to Pakistan Shaheens. It's heartening to see our team being given the opportunity to compete in a highly competitive environment, and we look forward to making the most of this tour.

Pakistan Shaheens' tour for the Top End T20 Series and the 50-over matches is an exciting prospect for our players. This tour provides them with a unique opportunity to gain valuable exposure in Australian conditions, which will help them evolve as well-rounded cricketers.”
