NT Cricket, in partnership with AANT, is proud to recognise Mark Donfeld as May’s ‘AANT Volunteer of the Month’.
May Volunteer of the Month: Mark Donfeld
A long-serving and highly respected figure in the NT cricketing community, Mark Donfeld has dedicated nearly 20 years to the NT Match Officials Association. Throughout his service, Mark has taken on a wide range of roles, from General Committee Member to President, always contributing with integrity, leadership and a deep love for the game.
Mark’s passion has always extended beyond officiating games. He has played a key role in nurturing and developing the next generation of umpires across the Northern Territory. Whether it’s running training sessions, providing on-field observations or offering feedback and guidance, Mark’s mentorship has left a lasting impact on countless officials.
In recent years, following the loss of both legs, Mark has gracefully transitioned into a role that is behind-the-scenes. As Match Officials Coordinator, he now oversees all umpiring appointments each week. It is a role that requires great attention to detail, strong communication, and a level of commitment that often goes unseen. Despite the challenges, Mark continues to give his time selflessly, ensuring the smooth running of competitions across the Territory.
Reflecting on her volunteering, Mark shared:
"It’s an honour and a privilege to receive this award, something I never expected. I’ve been an official for nearly 20 years, and although I’ve had to step back from on-field duties due to medical reasons, I’m grateful to still play a part in supporting the next generation of umpires. It’s fantastic to be able to share my experience and advice with the new guys coming through. Volunteers are such an important part of our game, from clubland to match officials, and I’m truly humbled to be acknowledged as part of that community."
Mark’s tireless work is a testament to his resilience and unwavering dedication to cricket. He exemplifies what it means to be a true volunteer, serving not for recognition but for the love of the game and the betterment of others.
NT Cricket and AANT proudly thank and honour Mark’s service by awarding him a 12-month Premium AANT Membership and a $250 United fuel voucher.
