NT Cricket, in partnership with AANT, is proud to recognise Craig Johnston of Southern Districts Cricket Club as July’s ‘AANT Volunteer of the Month’.
A long-time member of the Southern Districts Cricket Club, Craig Johnston affectionately known as ‘Johno’ has stepped up in recent seasons to take on a key role off the field. Now serving as the club’s Junior Coordinator, Johno has brought with him a fresh energy and a genuine passion for making cricket fun, inclusive and accessible for the next generation of Crocs.
Known for his can-do attitude, Johno is someone who never waits to be asked. Whether it's setting up for game day, lending a hand at training or solving a problem behind the scenes, he’s the first to jump in and get it done. His leadership and commitment are a driving force behind the continued growth and improvement of the club’s junior program.
What makes Johno’s contribution even more impressive is his ability to balance his volunteer work with an already full plate. He continues to play the game himself, supports his family members who also play for the club, and runs his own building company. Yet he still finds the time to give back to his club community in a meaningful and consistent way.
Reflecting on the recognition, Craig shared:
“To be honest, I’m just a small cog in a big team. I couldn’t do it without everyone on the committee, all the coaches and staff who help make our junior club so strong & I really can’t appreciate them enough.
For me, it’s just about giving back to the game I love, a game that’s given me so much throughout my life. I’m very proud to play a part in that. My advice? Just give it a go. You’d be surprised how quickly you get swept up in the passion of a small club.”
NT Cricket and AANT thank Craig for his service by awarding him a 12-month Premium AANT Membership and a $250 United fuel voucher.
Nominations are now open for the August AANT Volunteer of the Month. If you know someone who goes above and beyond for your club, submit your nomination here.
