NT Cricket will celebrate Women & Girls Week from 20 – 24 October 2025, with this year’s theme “Her Game Grows” celebrating Cricket Australia’s recent partnership with Westpac and celebrating the females who make cricket possible.
Women & Girls Week 2025
Women & Girls Week is a celebration of the incredible females who have shaped, and continue to shape, cricket across Australia. It’s also an invitation to explore the many ways to get involved – whether that’s playing, supporting, umpiring, coaching, volunteering, or simply attending.
This year’s theme is Her Game Grows – a joint initiative by Cricket Australia and Westpac designed to inspire more women and girls to play, lead, and connect through cricket by building inclusive and welcoming environments. It supports increased participation as players, coaches, umpires, and volunteers, and enables leadership pathways like Project Inspire.
Her Game Grows is a key part of Australian Cricket’s long-term commitment to gender equity and growing the game for everyone.
The launch comes as Australia’s world-conquering women’s team continues its campaign to defend the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup title in India.
James Allsopp, Cricket Australia Chief of Cricket said:
“Cricket has proudly led the way in gender equity in sport, and Her Game Grows is the next step in our commitment to ensuring every woman and girl feels cricket is a game for them.
“This initiative brings our Women and Girls Action Plan to life, with targeted investment that will grow participation, strengthen pathways, and create more inclusive environments across the country.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Westpac for their support and partnership in helping us grow the game for women and girls.”
Since beginning in their roles as ‘Women & Girls Growth Leads’ at Northern Territory Cricket, Hannah and Megan have been making a significant difference by inspiring the next generation of junior girls through Girls-Only Colour Blasts – a Woolworths cricket program for 5–12-year-old girls using colour as the vehicle to promote cricket, whilst engaging girls in basic physical literacy skills and entry level cricket skills. Since January, the program has offered 339 Darwin participants, and 103 Alice Springs participants the opportunity to play cricket in a safe, encouraging and fun environment.
This success encouraged the expansion into Tennant Creek for the first time, where 12 girls participated.
In the female space, The Darwin and Districts Competition saw the introduction of a division 2 women’s competition for the first time, and the Alice Springs Cricket Association saw 5 teams – a women’s team from each club.
