Mark Macdonald named October AANT Volunteer of the Month

Mark’s contribution during the 2025 Multicultural Cup exemplified what community spirit is all about. Serving as President of PINT Cricket Club, he went above and beyond by voluntarily opening and operating the bar at DXC Arena every weekend throughout the tournament, ensuring players, officials, and spectators had access to cold drinks and a welcoming space to cool down, socialise, and enjoy the cricket.

In Darwin’s October heat, this effort was more than just convenient, it was essential. Mark’s initiative brought comfort and connection to everyone attending, helping create the inclusive and community-driven environment that the Multicultural Cup represents. His commitment went well beyond the basics, as he kept the bar stocked, staffed, and ready each day, and often stayed late to clean up and prepare for the next round of matches.

Mark’s leadership, humility, and proactive support captured the essence of NT Cricket’s values of community, inclusivity, and respect. Without seeking recognition, he identified a need and stepped up to make a tangible difference. His dedication not only supported his own club but also strengthened the wider NT cricket community.

Reflecting on what volunteering means to him, Mark said:

“For me, volunteering is about pride — giving back to the game that has given so much to so many, and helping ensure cricket remains strong, inclusive, and enjoyable for future generations. It’s also about sharing stories and experiences with the next generation of players, helping them understand the importance of giving back to the game that has given them so much.”
