Kookaburra Junior Strike League Returns with Expanded Boys Competition

Northern Territory Cricket is pleased to announce the dates for the upcoming Kookaburra Boys and Girls Junior Strike League tournaments.

The Kookaburra Junior Strike League is an annual tournament that gives the Territory’s most promising young cricketers the opportunity to develop their skills and compete against talented interstate touring sides.

The tournament will also play an important role in preparation and selection ahead of the Cricket Australia Underage National Championships later this year.

Beyond the cricket, the Junior Strike League gives players, coaches, parents and travelling families the chance to experience the Territory lifestyle, culture and community that make the event such a memorable experience each year. Played during one of the best times of year to visit the Northern Territory, the tournament provides an opportunity for families to combine high-quality junior cricket with a unique Top End experience, enjoying Darwin’s warm dry season weather, local attractions and relaxed outdoor lifestyle during their stay.

The Kookaburra Boys Junior Strike League will be played from 29 June to 3 July, with the competition expanding from three teams in 2025 to an eight-team tournament as Northern Territory looks to defend its title. Participating teams will include:

Victoria Big Cats (Victoria)
Cricket for All (South Australia)
M2 Coaching (South Australia)
CHCC Coaching (South Australia)
Cricket Appeal (New South Wales)
Yarra Valley Grammar (Victoria)
Hills Cricket Academy (New South Wales)

The Kookaburra Girls Junior Strike League will follow from 6 to 11 July, with Northern Territory and Victoria Big Cats again set to face off in a two-team competition.

The two sides met last year, with the Big Cats winning the series. Their connection to the Territory has continued beyond the tournament, with standout performers Teagan Rule and Mya Newey joining the local DDCC Women’s Division 1 competition following their positive experience playing cricket in Darwin.

Squads and fixtures will be finalised and announced in the coming weeks, with matches to be played across DXC Arena 1, DXC Arena 2 and Cazalys Arena.

Northern Territory Cricket looks forward to welcoming all teams, players, coaches and families for another exciting Kookaburra Junior Strike League campaign.
