NT Cricket, in partnership with AANT, is pleased to recognise Sarah Fowler from Palmerston Cricket Club as June’s AANT Volunteer of the Month.
Sarah has made a strong contribution to the growth of women’s cricket at Palmerston Cricket Club through her role as Women’s Coordinator. Her work has helped create more opportunities for women and girls to play, while supporting a positive and welcoming environment for players across the club.
This season has marked an important step forward for Palmerston, with the club entering a second women’s team for the first time. That growth reflects the work being done to strengthen the women’s program, provide more playing opportunities and create a clear pathway for players to stay involved in cricket.
Alongside the growth in team numbers, Palmerston’s Division 1 women’s side has continued to develop, with a strong core of young local players who have come through the club’s junior ranks. Sarah’s support has helped build an environment where emerging players can continue their cricket journey and contribute at senior level.
Her contribution also extends beyond regular competition. Sarah helped support the club’s successful Pink Stumps Game, bringing the Palmerston cricket community together to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation. The event was an important opportunity to use cricket as a platform for a cause that resonates strongly across the community.
Reflecting on her involvement with Palmerston Cricket Club, Sarah said:
"I’m incredibly proud of how far women’s cricket has come at Palmerston. We have created a place where women and girls of all ages and abilities feel welcome, supported and like they belong. Seeing our junior girls come through into senior cricket, and this year being able to field two women’s teams for the first time, has been really special.
I’m also very proud to serve on the Masters Cricket NT Committee and the Cricket Australia Masters Committee, helping to continue growing opportunities for women beyond our local competition. This year is exciting, with the NT proudly fielding two women’s Masters teams travelling to Tasmania in November for the national championships. Cricket has given me some incredible friendships, experiences and memories, and if the work I do helps more women and girls find that same sense of belonging and love for the game, then it’s absolutely worth it."
Sarah’s commitment to women’s cricket, player development and community connection make her a deserving recipient of June’s AANT Volunteer of the Month Award.
NT Cricket and AANT thank Sarah for her outstanding contribution by awarding her a 12-month Premium AANT Membership and a $250 United fuel voucher.
