NT Cricket, in partnership with AANT, is pleased to recognise Damien Hassan from Tracy Village Cricket Club as July’s AANT Volunteer of the Month.
Damien has become an important part of Tracy Village Cricket Club’s junior coaching group, moving from the Under 9s to the Under 11s this season. He brings energy and enthusiasm to the role, sharing his love of cricket with a lively group of young players each week.
Coaching junior cricket is about more than teaching skills. Damien helps create an environment where players can learn, grow and enjoy the game, while also building confidence through training and match-day experiences.
Coordinating a large group of young cricketers takes patience, organisation and consistency. Damien continues to put in the time each week, helping ensure the Under 11s have a positive and enjoyable introduction to club cricket.
Reflecting on what he enjoys about volunteering and coaching, Damien said:
"Junior cricket is about more than runs and wickets - it's about building confidence, teamwork and character, and creating a foundation for the future players. Being able to assist the U9s / U11s achieve this, and watching their personal skills and abilities grow throughout the season/s has been extremely rewarding. Tracy Village provides all players support and guidance within their junior cricket pathway".
His contribution is also supported by his family, who play an important part in helping him stay involved with the club. That support reflects the community spirit that underpins junior cricket and helps clubs like Tracy Village continue to grow.
Damien’s work with Tracy Village’s young players makes him a deserving recipient of July’s AANT Volunteer of the Month Award.
NT Cricket and AANT thank Damien for his outstanding contribution by awarding him a 12-month Premium AANT Membership and a $250 United fuel voucher.
