Tim Bresnan Announced as NT Cricket Pathways and Talent Development Coach

Northern Territory Cricket is pleased to announce that former England international Tim Bresnan has been appointed as the new Pathways and Talent Development Coach.

Tim brings a wealth of international and domestic experience to the Territory - representing England in 23 Test Matches, 85 One Day Internationals and 34 T20 Internationals between 2006 and 2015, including winning the 2010 ICC T20 World Cup in the Caribbean.

The Pathways and Talent Development Coach is responsible for coaching and managing the Territory’s male and female pathways - including the newly created Academy, Junior Strike League, Cricket Australia Underage National Championships teams (U16 Female, U17 and U19 Male), and NT Strike Women’s and Men’s teams.

The role will also have a key focus on community and high-performance coach development, with Tim responsible for the implementation of Coach360, Australia’s latest coach development framework. This will include working closely with clubs to upskill local coaches and raise the quality and brand of coaching throughout the Territory.

Bresnan comes to the role with firsthand experience in Australian Cricket, having played for the Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes, as well as a strong understanding of what it takes to progress through a pathway system having debuted for Yorkshire County Cricket Club at just 18yrs of age before going on to play 213 first-class matches.

Head of Cricket, Nick Winter said:

“To attract someone with Tim’s international cricketing experience and pedigree, a T20 World Cup winner, is a major milestone in the development of our pathway program and a coup for Australian Cricket.

“Having Tim coach our most talented girls and boys will ensure the progress we have achieved over the last two years continues to strengthen, and Tim’s appointment is yet another example of what is proving an unprecedented period of growth for cricket in the Territory.”

NT Cricket Pathways and Talent Development Coach, Tim Bresnan said:

“I am proud and excited to take up the role as Pathways and Talent Development Coach, and I come to the Territory with the aim of inspiring the next generation of young NT players to become future professional players”.

“With 22 years as a professional and 8 playing on the international stage, I have a unique insight into different coaching philosophies and techniques needed to promote talent and excel to the next level”.

Tim will commence in the role on October 12, beginning with preparation for the upcoming Cricket Australia Underage National Championships across December and January.
